A Talk With Lois Gordon About Her Writing Life and Novel

I have been a professional interior designer since 1984, and wrote stories as a hobby meant only for my own entertainment.

In 1996 I joined the Writers' Circle of Durham Region where I learned from and was inspired by the many wonderful authors and poets found in its membership. I eventually volunteered to serve on the Board of Directors and was assigned Workshops Coordinator, which I did for three years.

The praise I received from Dorothea Helms, a.k.a. The Writing Fairy© encouraged me to take my writings more seriously, and I finally finished writing a novel I had started years before. Since then I have written three full length manuscripts, still waiting to be discovered, but definitely not shoved into the back drawer.

For many years I was single, living alone in the hamlet of Hampton, Ontario and searching for Mr. Right. That experience led to many humorous essays which I have pulled together in a book entitled "Toads in Cars". Many of those stories have won awards in humour writing contests.

I am now married to Leif and we live in the country where we raise a few sheep, some chickens, peacocks, a llama, several cats, a dog and probably a partridge in a pear tree if I knew where to look. My transplantation to country life continues to inspire humour stories, which I am referring to as Tales of The City Mouse.
